How do Fidget Spinners work?
What is a fidget spinner? If you have to ask, you are probably a childless human that is above the age of 20. Every child and teen is talking about them, and every parent has probably heard enough about them! This latest 2017 fad has a great physics lesson behind it as it shows how momentum, more specifically angular momentum occurs. The ball bearing allows for the continued spin due to it reducing friction and allowing things to rotate freely for a long time.
The bearings used in the fidget spinners are also in the wheels of many everyday objects, skateboards, shopping carts, rollerblades, etc.
Here is a video explain how angular momentum occurs in these spinners.
